There are actually three ways of unlocking a horse in Kingdom Come Deliverance, as you won’t be automatically given one at the outset of the game. The three ways of obtaining a horse are
You can knock out a guard and then steal armor and weapons. Then you can use weapons to kill horses and get your weapon skill up. If you are RP-ing, you can just tell yourself that you are denying Cumans horses. If you do it right, you can kill every Cuman once you exit Skalitz.
But it's always possible to pass those checks if you have the speech and reputation for it. You can get your reputation up a bit by passing the checks to tell all of those peasants the story of what happened at skalitz, and you can start the game with a speech of 3 if you pick all the speech options with your mom at the beginning. 10.
I had suffocated out and killed two Skalitz guards and left in full chain armor with weapons to boot. You shouldn’t have to worry about it as long as you don’t get caught. Don't ever store any cumans armor or loot if you do decide to kill them in the chest next to Theresa's house though. I lost all of them.
There are a few chests around the castle. You can even use the chest in the armory room (right next to the staircase up the battlement, there's a room with a ladder leading down). Long Skalitz waffenrock is an armour item in Kingdom Come: Deliverance. It is classed as an outer garment. The waffenrock was a loose outer garment, usually linen, worn over armour. It carried the colours of the lord, town or ruler the wearer bore allegiance to and as such was the precursor of the military uniform. Skalitz always has really strong bandits specifically to deter you from going there. They usually fight with some other people first there. You can wait for them to despawn and then go in to loot the guys they killed, or complete whatever mission you were doing there. 1. Dave_the_bruce.
The only thing I'd say was worth grinding in Skalitz is archery, because shooting the cows is a super safe way to get to level 5, and that's the stage where archery becomes functional. Herbalism isn't awful I suppose, it's good to get that to a decent level as it speeds your herb gathering later, but you can do that literally anywhere at any

Do the cows still infinitely respawn and the people as well? i remember watching a streamer max out his henry almost in skalitz after 2 hours of punching cows, then running around the town levelling everything else. Once you’ve entered Skalitz, you can find your parents’ corpses by walking up the hill towards the castle. You’re then told to find a shovel. Head back down the hill, back the way you came
Interestingly, if you take the Skalitz shield, another one spawns in the same location. The shield you take is marked as stolen so be sure to move it to your horse until the red hand of thievery disappears from it. :-) Cool having a Skalitz shield, though.
